ANGELS

What Does The Bible Say?

Angels were created a higher order than humans, even higher than Jesus when He left Heaven, came to earth and was born a man.

Bible Reference  Hebrews 2:5-9   For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. 6 But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, or the Son of Man (Jesus) that You take care of Him?"

7
You have made Him (Jesus) a little lower than the angels; You have crowned Him with glory and honor, and set Him over the works of Your hands.  8 You have put all things in subjection under His feet."

For in that He (God the Father) put all in subjection under Him, He left nothing that is not put under Him. But now, we do not yet see all things put under Him. 9 But, we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

Angels Are Spirit Beings.

Bible Reference  Hebrews 1:14  Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Angels have no physical body, but have the power to change form, even appearing as humans.

Bible Reference  Hebrews 13:1-2   Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

All Angels Were Created Before The Foundation Of The Earth.

Bible Reference  Job 38:4-7  "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 when the morning stars (Angels) sang together, and all the sons of God (symbolic of the spirits of men who would inhabit the earth) shouted for joy?"

Bible Reference  Ephesians 1:3-5   Blessed be the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.

Angels Possess Intelligence.

Bible Reference 2 Corinthians 11:3  But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's (Satan) cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Bible Reference  1 Peter 1:12  It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by The Holy Spirit sent from Heaven. Even angels long to look into these things

Angels Show Emotions.

BELOW ARE A LIST OF SOME OF THE DUTIES OF ANGELS

1.  Angels Praise God

Bible Reference Psalms 148:1-2  Praise The Lord. Praise The Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the heights above. 2 Praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His heavenly hosts.

Bible Reference  Isaiah 6:3  And they (the angels) were calling to one another: "Holy, holy, holy is The Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory."

2.  Angels Worship God

Bible Reference  Hebrews 1:6  And again, when God brings his firstborn (Jesus Christ) into the world, He says, "Let all God's angels worship Him.

Bible Reference  Revelation 5:8-13  And when He had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before The Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song:

"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your Blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth."

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they sang:

"Worthy is The Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"

13 Then I heard every creature in Heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing.

3.  Angels Rejoice In What God Does

Bible Reference  Job 38:6-7  On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone. 7 While the morning stars (angels) sang together and all the angels shouted for joy.

4.  Angels Serve God

6.  Angels Are Instruments Of God's Judgments

Bible Reference Revelation 7:1 After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree.

Bible Reference  Revelation 8:2  And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.

7.  Angels Bring Answers To Prayer

Bible Reference  Acts 12:5-10  So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. 6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly, an Angel of The Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.

8 Then the Angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the Angel told him. 9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the Angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision. 10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the Angel left him.

8.  Angels Aid In Winning People To Christ

Bible Reference  Acts 8:26  Now an angel of The Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road-the desert road-that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza."

Bible Reference Ephesians 3:10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.

10.  Angels Encourage In Times Of Danger

Bible Reference  Acts 27:23-24 Last night, an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me 24 and said, "Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you."
11.  Angels Care For The Righteous At The Time Of Death

Bible Reference  Luke 16:22  The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried.

THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ANGELS

The Bible tells us that God created several types of Angels: seven that we know of and probably many more that we are not aware of. Unlike humans, Angels are not bound by space, time, or any other dimension that we know of. It is believed that Angels travel by thought. Angels can appear and disappear at will, and travel great distances in a moment, in an instant of time. The Bible refers to the angels as ministering spirits. They can hear, feel, smell, eat, touch, drink, kill, and change into human form.

In addition to these attributes, Angels have free will, the ability to decide right from wrong, great knowledge, incredible strength, and they never get tired or have a need to rest. Although Angels have the ability to reproduce with humans, as we will find out later in this study, it is God's Will that they refrain from doing so. In
Matthew 22, Jesus was asked if the redeemed would be able to marry in Heaven.  He answered, "No" and compared the redeemed with the Angels in Heaven. Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they, the redeemed, will neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the Angels in Heaven.

Although Angels are mentioned many times in the Bible, only four Angels are actually called by name:

1.  Michael the Archangel is called "One of the Chief Princes." Michael is a warrior Angel, and is assigned by God to watch over and protect Israel.

2.  Gabriel is a high-ranking Angel and identifies himself as "The Mighty One of God, who stands in the presence of God." The Bible does not tell us what kind of Angel Gabriel is.

3.  Lucifer also called Satan among many other titles, was created a Cherub angel and was called "The Anointed Cherub, also the Morning Star, Son of the Dawn."  Before his fall, Lucifer was the most beautiful angel in heaven. Even after his fall, he still had the ability to appear as an angel of light.

4.  In Revelation 9:1-11, John speaks of the fourth angel mentioned in the Bible, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon. The Bible tells us that this fallen angel will be the king of the demons who comes up out of the Abyss in the middle of the seven-year Tribulation.  Revelation 9:1-11 "They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon."  NIV

Angels Cannot Accept Praise Or Be Worshiped

Bible Reference  Revelation 19:10, an Angel appeared to John and he fell down at his feet to worship the Angel, but the Angel denied him saying,  "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy."

Angels Cannot Be Called God

Bible Reference  Hebrews 2:5-9, we learn that no Angel can be called "God" or rule over the earth, that only Jesus the Son of God is crowned with Glory and honor and all things were put under His feet because He suffered death for the sins of all.

"
Thou God the Father made Him Jesus a little lower than the Angels; Thou crowned Him with Glory and honour, and did set Him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under His feet. For in that He put all in subjection under Him, He left nothing [that is] not put under Him. But now, we see not yet all things put under Him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the Angels for the suffering of death, crowned with Glory and honour, that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

How Many Angels Did God Create?

Although the Bible does not tell us how many angels God created, it does indicate in the Book of Psalms the number of them, Yet I believe there are billions of them.  In Psalms 68:16-17 "God says, referring to the angels and the number of them: 'Why gaze in envy, O rugged mountains, at the mountain where God chooses to reign, where The Lord Himself will dwell forever? The chariot angels are tens of thousands and thousands of thousands.' "

Did God Create All The Angels At The Same Time

In the Book of Psalms, we also learn that all of the Angels in Heaven were created at the same time, and their creation was instantaneous.

Bible Reference  Psalms 148:2-6 "Praise Him, all His Angels, Praise Him, all His Heavenly Hosts. Praise Him, sun and moon; Praise Him, all you shining stars. Praise Him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the Name of The Lord, for He commanded and they were created. He set them in place forever and ever."

Regular Angels …………….…......Ministering spirits (All angels are
                                                          ministering spirits)

Even though the different types of Angels have specific duties, all Angels are ministering spirits or messengers of God. Gabriel was a messenger of God and believed by many to be an Archangel. A belief, I do not share.

LUCIFER - THE ANOINTED CHERUB

God's Word the Bible tells us that Lucifer/Satan was created a Cherub, and many serious Bible students believe that he was not only created a Cherub, but an Archangel as well. Respectfully, I do not share this belief. Ezekiel 28:12-15 gives a detailed description of Lucifer as a Cherub, and leaves no doubt in my mind that if God also created him an Archangel, Ezekiel would have told us. The Bible refers to Lucifer many times by many different names, but never as any other type of angel other than a Cherub angel.

Cherubim are believed by many to be the highest-ranking class or type of angelic beings created by God Jesus and are referred to 96 times in the Bible. According to all the references in the Bible regarding Cherubim, their primary duties seem to be gathered around God's throne and the protection of God's throne and anything else that God wants to protect, including the Garden of Eden, after Adam and Eve were cast out.

Of all the angels that God created, Lucifer or Satan was the most beautiful of all. He has one head, two wings, and the ability to change forms even into an angel of light.

Ezekiel describes the perfection, wisdom, and beauty of Lucifer before he rebelled and fell from grace.

Bible Reference  Ezekiel 28:12-19 "You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created, they were prepared. You were anointed as a guardian Cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones."

NOTE:  In the previous scripture where Ezekiel says, "Every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created, they were prepared." I believe that the stones described here are symbolic of precious stones full of light mounted in gold and were actually a part of Satan's form. I also believe that before Satan's rebellion, he was the fourth in command over all that God made and created. I also believe that after Satan's fall, the light of the stones was taken away, but that the stones remained.

CHERUB OR CHERUBIM ANGELS - THE FIRST OF FOUR TYPES

The Bible speaks of four different types of Cherubim. The first type of Cherub is described in Ezekiel 1:5-14.

Bible Reference  Ezekiel 1:5-14  "In appearance, their form was that of a man, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides, they had the hands of a man. All four of them had faces and wings, and their wings touched one another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved. Their faces looked like this: Each of the four had the face of a man, and on the right side, each had the face of a lion; and on the left, the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle.  Such were their faces.

Their wings were spread out upward; each had two wings, one touching the wing of another creature on either side, and two wings covering its body. Each one went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they went. The appearance of the Living Creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches. Fire moved back-and-forth among the creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it. The creatures sped back-and-forth like flashes of lightning."

CHERUB OR CHERUBIM ANGELS - THE SECOND OF FOUR TYPES

The second type of Cherub is also briefly described by Ezekiel. Only the Cherubim described in this passage are made of wood and will adorn the outer walls of the coming Temple that will be built in Jerusalem, after Jesus returns to earth and sets up His thousand-year Kingdom. The major differences between these Cherubim and the first type of Cherubim is the second type of Cherubim described here have two heads instead of four heads, and although Ezekiel does not describe their bodies, we can only assume they are the same: the hands of a man, the feet like those of a calf with either two or four wings.

Bible Reference  Ezekiel 41:17-20  Ezekiel describes where these wooden Cherubim will be placed in the coming Temple. "In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary and on the walls at regular intervals all around the inner and outer sanctuary were carved Cherubim and palm trees. Palm trees alternated with Cherubim. Each cherub had two faces:  the face of a man toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole Temple. From the floor to the area above the entrance, Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer sanctuary."

I believe for God to place the images of these Angels on the outer wall of the new Temple, He must hold them in high regard.  Somehow, I think Cherubim Angels hold a special place in Jesus' heart and have a greater responsibility than we are aware of.

CHERUB OR CHERUBIM ANGELS - THE THIRD OF FOUR TYPES

A description of the third type of Cherub is found in 1 Kings and describes the two Cherubim that stood in the inner sanctuary of the portable temple that Moses had made, that went with the Israelites during the 40 years they wandered in the desert.

Bible Reference  1 Kings 6:23-35  "In the inner sanctuary, he made a pair of Cherubim of olive wood, each 10 cubits high, approximately 15 feet. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits. Ten cubits from wing tip-to-wing tip, approximately 15 feet. The second cherub also measured 10 cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape. The height of each cherub was 10 cubits approximately 15 feet. He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the Temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. He overlaid the Cherubim with gold."

"On the walls all around the Temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved Cherubim, palm trees and open flowers. He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the Temple with gold.  At the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood with five-sided jambs. And on the two olive wood doors, he carved Cherubim, palm trees and open flowers and overlaid the Cherubim and palm trees with beaten gold.  In the same way, he made four-sided jambs of olive wood for the entrance to the main hall. He also made two pine doors; each having two leaves that turned in sockets. He carved Cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings."

CHERUB OR CHERUBIM ANGELS - THE FORTH OF FOUR TYPES

A description of the fourth and final type of Cherub is found in Exodus 25:10-21. These are the two golden Cherubim Moses had made and placed on top of the Ark of the Covenant that held the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God and given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, three months after Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt.

Bible Reference  In Exodus 25:10-22  God instructs Moses how to make the Ark of the Covenant. "Have them make a chest of acacia wood--two and a half cubits long, approximately 3 feet 9 inches, a cubit and a half wide, approximately 2 feet 3 inches, and a cubit and a half high, approximately 2 feet 3 inches. Overlay it with pure gold, both inside and out, and make a gold molding around it. Cast four gold rings for it and fasten them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other. Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the chest to carry it. The poles are to remain in the rings of this Ark of the Covenant; they are not to be removed. Then put in the Ark of the Covenant, the Testimony, which I will give you."

"Make an atonement cover of pure gold--two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. And make two Cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. Make one Cherub on one end and the second Cherub on the other; make the Cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. The Cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The Cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. Place the cover on top of the Ark of the Covenant and put in the Ark of the Covenant the Testimony, which I will give you. There, above the cover between the two Cherubim that are over the Ark of the Covenant, the Testimony, I will meet with you and give you all My commands for the Israelites."  NIV

Although Moses does not give a detailed description of the two Cherubim that were placed on the lid of the Ark of the Covenant, what he does say certainly leads one to believe that unlike the other Cherubim, God also created these Cherubim with one head, the head of a man, two wings, the body of a man. In short, the Cherubim Moses had made and placed on the Ark of the Covenant had the appearance of a man with wings.

GOD CREATES LUCIFER - THE ANOINTED CHERUB

Jesus said when He created Lucifer that he was perfect in every way until wickedness was found in his heart.

Bible Reference  Ezekiel 28:12-15  "You were the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones.  You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you." NIV

God Strips Lucifer / Satan Of His Heavenly Authorty

I believe with all of my heart that the Bible says what it means and means what it says. In the Book of Ezekiel, Jesus describes how in just one day in the future, He will destroy Satan.

Bible Reference  Ezekiel 28:18-19 "So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more."

Although in the preceding passage Jesus says, "He will cause fire to come out of Satan and it will consume him and he will be no more." Fire is an idiom for God's judgment, and after much prayer, I believe, the "fire" Jesus speaks of is symbolic of Jesus taking Satan's power away from him in the presence of the whole world, especially those who followed him.

At the end of this world age, Satan will be stripped of his power and cast into the Lake of Fire where he will spend eternity with the fallen angels, the Antichrist, the false prophet, the demons and all of the unrighteous that he has deceived since Adam.

Bible Reference  Revelation 20:10  "And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

In regards to the fate of the unrighteous. When an unrighteous person dies, who is a person who has never accepted Jesus as Lord and their Personal Savior, or a person who has turned his back toThe Lord, when they die, they are immediately sent to the Lake of Fire where they will stay until the Great White Throne Judgment occurs. The Great White Throne Judgment will take place at the end of the one thousand year-Millennium after Jesus returns. After the unrighteous are judged at the Great White Throne Judgment and their name is not found in the Book of Life, they will be cast back into the Lake of Fire where they will spend eternity separated from God. We will dwell deeper into the subject of can you lose your salvation in a later chapter.

Bible Reference  Revelation 20:14-15 "Then death and Hades were thrown into the Lake of Fire. The Lake of Fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire."

SERAPHS OR SERAPHIM ANGELS

Seraphs or Seraphim in Hebrew means "Burning Ones," and from Isaiah's description, they must be absolutely awesome-looking Angels. Their duties seem to be surrounded with confessing the Holiness of God and the protection of God from sin. The Bible gives us very little insight as to the physical appearance of the Seraphim, except for the descriptions given to us by Isaiah.

Bible Reference  Isaiah 6:1-7  "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw The Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe which is the skirt of the robe filled the Temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings:  With two wings, they covered their faces; with two, they covered their feet, and with two, they were flying.

And they were calling to one another:

"Holy, Holy, Holy is The Lord Almighty, the whole earth is full of His Glory." At the sound of their voices, the door posts and thresholds shook and the Temple was filled with smoke. 'Woe to me!' I cried. 'I am ruined!  For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, The Lord Almighty.' Then one of the Seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it, he touched my mouth and said, 'See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.' "

The Bible is full of mysteries, but I am fully convinced, as are many other students of the Bible, that when the Seraphim Angels cried out, "Holy, Holy, Holy," they were confessing the Holiness of God the Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit.

ZOA ANGELS - Also Called Living Creatures

Living Creatures translated in the Greek is (Zoa). Although unique in their responsibilities, the Living Creatures or Zoa are only mentioned in the Book of Revelation, which was dictated to John the Apostle by Our Lord Jesus Christ when John was probably around 90 years old.

John not only saw Jesus, in the form of The Angel of The Lord, when Jesus dictated the Book of Revelation to him, but he also saw the actual events Jesus described. More on this in a later chapter.

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus appeared to John and foretold the coming events that will take place in our lifetime. As Jesus stood before John, John is transported in the Spirit into the third heaven, where he actually sees the Throne of God and the Zoa, or Living Creatures.

Bible Reference  Revelation 4:1-8  "After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in Heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, 'Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.' At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in Heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian. A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were 24 other thrones, and seated on them were 24 elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven Spirits of God. Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.' "

"In the center around the throne, were four Living Creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. Each of the four Living Creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

"Holy, Holy, Holy
is The Lord God Almighty,
who was, and is, and is to come."

Refers to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit before Jesus came into the world as God Man.

Whenever the Living Creatures give glory, honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne and who lives forever and ever, the 24 elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and worship Him who lives forever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say, "You are worthy, Our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things and by Your Will, they were created and have their being."

In addition to praising and giving honor to God, the Living Creatures or Zoa, play harps in Revelation 5:9 and sing a new song. They also play an important part in assisting Jesus in the last three-and-a-half years of the Tribulation.

NOTE:  In the preceding scriptures, when John was transported into Heaven in the Spirit, I believe he actually saw the face of GOD. When Jesus appeared to John on the Island of Patmos, He appeared to John in the flesh, probably as The Angel of The Lord, but when John was transported into Heaven, he was transported in the Spirit, and being in the Spirit, he was not confined by the limitations of flesh and bone. Consequently, I believe he actually looked into the face of GOD through the eyes of his immortal body. An experience that God once gave me several years ago, and although I did not see the face of God, I was able to experience my immortal body.  See: Visions, Dreams and Miracles Section.

Regular Angels - Also Called Ministering Spirits

The Bible describes All angels as Ministering Spirits, and they are found throughout the Old and the New Testament. Of all the Angels that God created, I believe that He created a special type of Angel we call Regular Angels. The Bible tells us that all Angels are spirits, but I believe Regular Angels, although spirit beings, look much like human beings in many ways: They can see, hear, smell, taste, drink, eat, and touch. They have a free will, know right from wrong, and can act on their own. They are wise, intelligent, strong, and never get tired or need rest, and they can kill and cause great destruction. If you know the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, you also know, that there were two Angels that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah plus three other cities. I believe these two Angels were Regular Angels, but whether or not Regular Angels have wings, I do know, but I have a feeling that they do. I guess we will just have to wait until we get to Heaven to find out for sure.

Do Angels Appear To Us Today In The Flesh?

Bible Reference  Hebrews 13:1-2 We are told to "Keep on loving each other as brothers, and do not forget to entertain strangers; for by so doing, some people have entertained Angels without knowing it."

DOES EVERYONE HAVE A GUARDIAN ANGEL?

In Psalms 91:11 we are told that God gives Angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways. Many people interpret this passage as meaning that everyone has a Guardian Angel, the righteous, and the unrighteous. But make no mistake as to God's meaning, for He makes it crystal clear in Hebrews 1:14 regarding the duties of Angels, and who the Guardian Angels are assigned to when He says, "Are not all Angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation." This verse takes away all doubt as to who has a Guardian Angel, and makes it crystal clear that Guardian Angels are only sent by God to those who have been redeemed, who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Personal Lord and Savior, or who will accept Christ before their death. Remember, God knows the end from the beginning and who will come to Christ and be redeemed.

BE FOREWARNED:   If you are involved in any form of the occult, such as fortune telling, palm reading, mediums who say they can contact the dead, astrology, tarot cards, crystal ball gazing, white and black magic, ouija boards or any other kind of mystic arts and you think you have contacted a Guardian Angel that has come to guide, counsel and help you, you have another thing coming. What you have invited into your home and into your body is a DEMON SPIRIT whose only purpose is to steal your salvation.

Remember: Satan is very cunning, and he has lots of help in the form of billions of demons and fallen angels whose only purpose for being is to steal your salvation, if you have never accepted Christ. The Bible teaches that if you die unredeemed, you will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire, separated from God.

ARCHANGELS

According to the Book of Jude, Michael is the only Angel in the Bible who is actually called "an Archangel." Jude 1:9"But even the Archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil Satan over the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said 'The Lord rebuke you!' "

Although Michael is the only Archangel mentioned in the Bible, there are other scriptures that indicate that there could be more than one Archangel, such as Daniel 10:13-14 where Gabriel says, "The Prince of the Persian Kingdom" resisted me 21 days. Then Michael, ONE of the Chief Princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the King of Persia."

Since we know Michael is an Archangel and is called, "ONE of the Chief Princes," we can only surmise that "Chief Princes" is another name God gives to Archangels.

The four possible types of Angels mentioned in the preceding verses.
1.        Gabriel.                                        Probably a Cherub Angel
2.        Michael.                                        An Archangel
3.        The Prince of the Persian Kingdom.   A fallen angel probably an Archangel
4.        The King of Persia.                        A fallen angel probably a Cherub

The preceding scripture calls Michael, One of the Chief Princes, which leaves no doubt that there are, in fact, other Archangels. For Gabriel to be an Archangel, as many believe, the verse would have to read, "Michael, ANOTHER Chief Prince came to help me." This verse leads me to believe that Gabriel is not an Archangel, but more likely a Cherub, or some other type of angelic being.

Remember, when Lucifer rebelled, I believe one or more of the Archangels rebelled with him and are now serving in Satan's army. So, it is entirely possible that the Prince of the Persian Kingdom could very well be an Archangel, which explains why Gabriel needed the help of another Archangel to defeat him. The King of Persian also referred to in this scripture is probably a Cherub and Satan's second-in-command whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek, Apollyon.

The Difference Between Regular Angels - The Angel Of The Lord And The Angel Of God

All Angels are "Ministering Spirits," while The Angel of The Lord and The Angel of God are neither actual Angels, but are both the person of Jesus Christ in the form of an Angel when He appeared before different men and women on earth in the Old Testament.

Many times, Jesus appeared to man in the form of The Angel of The Lord or The Angel of God when He had a message to deliver or a job to do that only He could accomplish.

Matthew 1:24-25 is the last time The Angel of The Lord or The Angel of God appeared to man in the Bible by the title "The Angel of The Lord" with the possible exception of when Jesus appeared to Paul on the Road to Damascus.

Bible Reference  Matthew 1:24-25 "When Joseph awoke, he did what The Angel of The Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife, but he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he Joseph gave him the name Jesus."

Bible Reference  Acts 9: 4-6 Speaking of Saul also called Paul, "He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?' "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,' He replied.  6 "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

Examples Of Jesus Appearing As - The Angel Of Lord.

Bible Reference  In Genesis 22:1-12 God tests Abraham. "Abraham, take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah and sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

"When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. After he bound Isaac, he laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But The Angel of The Lord called out to him from Heaven, 'Do not lay a hand on the boy,' God said. 'Now I know that you fear God because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.' "
NIV

NOTE: In the preceding scripture, the first verse denotes The Angel of The Lord as speaking to Abraham, but in the second verse, the scriptures reveal that The Angel of The Lord is actually God who is speaking, verifying they are one in the same.

EXAMPLE:  Of Jesus appearing as The Angel of The Lord

Bible Reference  Exodus 3:1-6  "Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There, The Angel of The Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire, it did not burn up. So Moses thought, 'I will go over and see this strange sight--why the bush does not burn up.' "

"
When The Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, 'Moses! Moses!' And Moses said, 'Here I am.' 'Do not come any closer,' God said. 'Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.' Then He said, 'I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.' At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God."

Here again as He did in Genesis, God speaks to Moses as The Angel of The Lord, after which He proclaims Himself to be GOD. Again verifying that The Angel of The Lord and God are one in the same.

EXAMPLE:  Of Jesus appearing as the Angel of The Lord

Bible Reference  Judges 6:11-12 "The Angel of The Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When The Angel of The Lord appeared to Gideon, He said, 'The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.' "

EXAMPLE:  Of Jesus appearing as the Angel of The Lord

Bible Reference  Exodus 14:19-22  "Then The Angel of God, who had been traveling in front of the Israelites' army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night, the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side so neither went near the other all night long. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night, The Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left."

EXAMPLES of Jesus appearing as - the Angel Of God.

Bible Reference  Genesis 21:14-19  "Early the next morning, Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy. She went on her way and wandered in the Desert of Beersheba. When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes. Then she went off and sat down nearby, about a bow shot away, for she thought, "I cannot watch the boy die." And as she sat there nearby, she began to sob."

"God heard the boy crying, and The Angel of God called to Hagar from Heaven and said to her, 'What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.' Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water, so she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink."

In the preceding verse, "The Angel of God, appeared to Hagar and said, "I will make him into a great nation." Only God has the power to see the future and cause something that is not, to become.

EXAMPLE:  Of Jesus appearing as the Angel of God

Bible Reference  Genesis 31:10-13  "Jacob describes a dream The Lord had given him. 'In breeding season, I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked, speckled, or spotted. The Angel of God said to me in the dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am.' And he said, 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked, speckled or spotted, for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you. I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me. Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land.' "

EXAMPLE:  Of Jesus appearing as The Angel of God

Bible Reference  Judges 6:20-24  20 "The Angel of God said to him Gideon, 'Take the meat and the unleavened bread, place them on this rock, and pour out the broth.' " And Gideon did so." 21 "With the tip of the staff that was in His hand, The Angel of The Lord touched the meat and the unleavened bread. Fire flared from the rock, consuming the meat and the bread. And The Angel of The Lord disappeared." 22 "When Gideon realized that it was The Angel of The Lord, he exclaimed, 'Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen The Angel of The Lord face-to-face!' " 23  "But The Lord said to him, 'Peace! Do not be afraid, you are not going to die.' "  24 "So Gideon built an altar to The Lord there and called it "The Lord is Peace." To this day, it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites."

Which Did God Jesus Create First - The Earth Or The Angels

Bible Reference  Colossians 1:15-18 "Paul the apostle speaking of Jesus said,  'He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him, all things were created: Things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together.' "

Now that we have further established that Jesus created all things, the question arises which did God create first, the earth or the angels. To find the answer, we must look to the Book of Job. In the Book of Job 38:4-7 God asks Job, "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and All the Angels shouted for joy?"

In this verse, God leaves no doubt that He Jesus created the Angels before He created the earth. That means Lucifer could not have rebelled against God and been cast out of heaven the first time until after God created the earth, because the scripture clearly sets forth that all the Angels shouted for joy. If all the angels shouted for joy-and because Lucifer is an angel-he had to be included still serving God at the time God created the earth.

FALLEN ANGELS

What Does The Bible Say?

Jude 1:6-7 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. NKJV

NEPHILIM - Half Angel And Half Man

The Nephilim in the Hebrew means the fallen ones and in the Greek, earth-born, and also giant. In the Book of Genesis, Moses describes these incredible beings. They were giants, half man-and-half fallen angel and were the children of the fallen angels who rebelled with Satan marrying the daughters of men.

Genesis 6:1-4  "When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God bena Elohim, angels saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose."

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days -- and also afterward -- when the sons of God bena Elohim, angels went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."

In verse 4 we are told, that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also after those days. After the flood.  This verse answers the question as to who the giants were that inhabited the Land of Israel after Moses died, and Joshua led the Israelites into Israel also called the Promise Land. The real question is: When God destroyed the earth with Noah's Flood and killed everyone on the earth, except Noah, his wife, his three sons and the wives of the three sons, where did the Nephilim come from that lived in the Land of Israel after the Flood.
