THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAN'S SIN AND THE ANGELS' REBELLION

Knowing the end from the beginning, when God created the angels, He knew that one-third of the angels would rebel against Him. Yet, He made no provision for their redemption if they sinned by rebelling against Him and later wanted His forgiveness. The penalty for an angel rebelling against God is the Lake of Fire in outer darkness for all eternity.

Unlike angels, when God made man, also knowing that man too would sin and be separated from Him, God made a provision that man might be redeemed for their sins.

  1.  From Adam to the death of Jesus the Christ, God's provision for the forgiveness of sin was accomplished through animal sacrifice, but this only covered sin. It was not until the Crucifixion of Jesus and the shedding of His Blood that man's sins could be washed away.

  2.  God sent His Son Jesus Christ, to die on the cross in our place for our sins, that through the death of Jesus, we might receive forgiveness for our sins and have eternal life.

In the Book of Jude, God's Word tells us that the angels who rebelled and kept not their first abode, but married the daughters of men, were placed into everlasting chains under darkness in a place called the Pit.

Jude 6 "And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home-these He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the Great Day."

What these verses are telling us is that there is no redemption for the angels who sinned. The only redemption created by God was the redemption of man's sins through the Blood of Jesus Christ. So when the fallen angels married the daughters of man and had children who were half fallen angel-and-man, because the children were half man-and-half fallen angel, they like their fathers had no means of redemption for the sins they committed. Consequently, after they died, they were condemned, and became the demons spoken of throughout the Bible. But the mystery does not stop here, even though the original Nephilim were all killed in the Flood of Noah, their offspring reappeared in the Land of Israel during the time Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan into Israel. We will cover the fate of the Nephilim in more detail in a later chapter.

PRINCIPALITIES - POWERS - AND THE RULERS OF DARKNESS

The Bible does not tell us how many of Satan's fallen angels took human wives, but we know that not all did because Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age and against spiritual hosts of the wicked in heavenly places.

The principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, spiritual hosts and the wicked in heavenly places are the other fallen angels of Satan who did not take the daughters of man as wives. We know this because demons are earthbound. As a rule only God's angels and Satan's fallen angels have or have ever had access into the second and third heavens. The exception to this rule is when God calls one of the redeemed up into Heaven in a dream or a vision. The only two men who never suffered death and were taken up into Heaven were Enoch and Elijah.
The Nephilim, the children of the fallen angels, are earthbound and are the demons in the world today.

ANGER:

What does the Bible say?

Bible Reference James 1:20 The anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Bible Reference 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Bible Reference Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares The Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Bible Reference
Job 2:10 Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?

Bible Reference Romans 8:28  And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Bible Reference
Ephesians 4:26-27 "Do not let the sun go down on your anger  27 and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you."

Bible Reference James 4:1-12  What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You want something, but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the Spirit He caused to live in us envies intensely?  6 But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before The Lord, and He will lift you up. 11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-who are you to judge your neighbor?

Bible Reference  Galatians 5:19-21  When you are offended or disappointed by others and allow the hurt to germinate in your heart, bitterness and resentment will take root characterized by an unforgiving spirit and generally negative, critical attitudes, bitterness and resentment are sinful and self-defeating. They will color your conscious and unconscious thoughts and actions. Allowed to fester, they will destroy and kill. However, they can be dispelled with love.

Bible Reference  Hebrews 12:14  Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see The Lord. See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many

Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says The Lord. On the contrary: 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.' Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

CONFESSING SIN:

What does the Bible say?

Bible Reference  Proverbs 28:13  He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Bible Reference
Psalms 32:1-6  Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record The Lord has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night, Your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to The Lord." And You forgave me!

All my guilt is gone.

Therefore, let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment.

Bible Reference  Psalms 51:1-10  The great "sin song" of the Bible is Psalms 51, supposed to have been written by King David when he felt guilt over his adultery. The most beautiful thing about the psalm is David's full confidence that God will accept his repentant heart and restore again his spiritual health.

Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin.

For I recognize my shameful deeds -- they haunt me day and night. Against You, and You alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in Your sight. You will be proved right in what You say, and Your judgment against me is just.

For I was born a sinner -- yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But You desire honesty from the heart, so You can teach me to be wise in my inmost being.

Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; You have broken me -- now let me rejoice. Don't keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

Bible Reference  Roman 14:11-12  "As surely as I live,' says The Lord, `Every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.' " Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God."

Bible Reference  1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong.
