What does the Bible say?

FALLEN ANGELS ARE THE FATHERS OF THE NEPHILIM

In order to understand what demons, and evils spirits are and the power and authority they have over man, it is important to first understand what they are and where they came from.

Genesis 6:1-4  Speaking of the fallen angels. "When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God bena Elohim, (angels) saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose."

Nephilim - Half Fallen Angel And Half Man

The Nephilim (were the children of the fallen angels and the daughter of man) in the Hebrew Nephilim, means the fallen ones and in the Greek, earth-born, and also giant.  In the Book of Genesis, Moses describes these incredible beings. They were giants, (half man-and-half angel) and were the children of the fallen angels who rebelled with Satan marrying the daughters of men.

"The Nephilim were on the earth in those days -- and also afterward -- when the sons of God bena Elohim, angels went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."   

In verse 4 we are told, that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also after those days. (After the flood). This verse answers the question as to who the giants were that inhabited the Land of Israel after Moses died, and Joshua led the Israelites into Israel also called the Promise Land. The real question is: When God destroyed the earth with Noah's Flood and killed everyone on the earth, except Noah, his wife, his three sons and the wives of the three sons, where did the Nephilim come from that lived in the Land of Israel after the Flood. The answer will probably surprise you! 

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAN'S SIN AND THE ANGELS' REBELLION

Knowing the end from the beginning, when God created the angels, He knew that one-third of the angels would rebel against Him. Yet, He made no provision for their redemption if they sinned and rebelled against Him and later wanted His forgiveness. The penalty for an angel rebelling against God is the Lake of Fire in outer darkness for all eternity. This judgment will be executed at the Great White Throne Judgment, a thousand years after Jesus returns to the earth.

How many angels fell with Satan is unknown, but all that fell did not take the daughter of man as wives, but those who did were cast into the lake of fire in the center of the earth at the time of Noah's Flood. The rest of the fallen angels became Principalities - Powers - And The Rulers Of Darkness and will be cast into lake of fire in the center of the earth when Jesus returns to set up His thousand-year reign on the earth. At the end of the thousand years, Jesus will conduct The Great White Throne Judgment after which, all the fallen angels along with all the unredeemed will be cast into the lake of fire in outer darkness for all eternity.

Unlike angels, when God made man, knowing that man too would sin and be separated from Him, God made a provision that man might be redeemed for their sins.

 1.  From Adam to the death of Jesus the Christ, God's provision for the forgiveness of sin was accomplished through animal sacrifice, but this only covered sin. It was not until the Crucifixion of Jesus and the shedding of His Blood that man's sins could be washed away.

 2.  God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on the Cross in our place for our sins, that through the death of Jesus, we might receive forgiveness for our sins and have eternal life.

In the Book of Jude, God's Word tells us that the angels who rebelled and kept not their first abode, but married the daughters of men were placed into everlasting chains under darkness in a place called the Pit.

Jude 6  "And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority, but abandoned their own home-these He has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the Great Day." 

What these verses are telling us is that there is no redemption for the angels who sinned. The only redemption created by God was the redemption of man's sins through the Blood of Jesus Christ. So when the fallen angels married the daughters of man and had children who were half angel-and-half man, because the children were half man-and-half angel, they like their fathers had no means of redemption for the sins they committed. Consequently, after they died, they were condemned, and became the demons spoken of throughout the Bible. But the mystery does not stop here, even though the original Nephilim were all killed in the Flood of Noah, their offspring reappeared in the Land of Israel during the time Joshua led the Israelites across the Jordan into Israel.  We will cover the fate of the Nephilim in more detail in a later chapter.

Principalities - Powers - And The Rulers Of Darkness - Who Are They?

The Bible does not tell us how many of Satan's fallen angels took human wives, but we know that not all did because Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age and against spiritual hosts of the wicked in heavenly places.

The principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness, spiritual hosts and the wicked in heavenly places are the other fallen angels of Satan who did not take the daughters of man as wives. We know this because demons are earthbound. As a rule only God's angels and Satan's fallen angels have or have ever had access into the second and third heavens. The exception to this rule is when God calls one of the redeemed up into Heaven in a dream or a vision. The only two men who never suffered death and were taken up into Heaven were Enoch and Elijah.
The Nephilim, the children of the fallen angels, are earthbound and are the demons in the world today.

DEMONS ARE NOT FALLEN ANGELS

Paul in the Book of Romans and in the Gospel of Matthew, put to rest the question that angels and demons are one in the same.  Paul in Romans 8:37-39 says, "Know in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither Angels nor Demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus Our Lord."

Notice in the previous paragraph that Paul separated the two (angels and demons) as two different spirits.

Demons Must Rest

Demons who are the spirits of the Nephilim differ from fallen angels in several ways: knowledge, beauty, spiritual power and strength, with the major differences being demons are half angel-and-half man are earthbound and must rest; whereas, the fallen angels need no rest and have access to the earth and the first and second heavens. Matthew verifies demons need rest. Matthew 12:43 "When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through dry places seeking rest (someone to demonically possess) and does not find it. Then the demon says, 'I will return to the house of the individual I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house of the individual unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits demons more wicked than itself, and they go into that individual (someone to demonically possess) and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation." 

The word "rest" in Matthew 12:43 means both physical rest and the ocupation and possession of another body, while the word "unoccupied" in the previous paragraph means that the individual was once demon possessed but was cleansed and the demon or demons cast out, but afterwards, the individual refused to acknowledge God and accept Jesus Christ as his or her Personal Savior and receive the protection of The Holy Spirit. Without the covering and protection of The Holy Spirit through the Blood of Jesus the Christ and the forgiveness and grace of God, the demon was able to return, and bring with it seven more demons even more wicked than itself and possess the individual again. The demons believe their only hope of escaping the Lake of Fire is for Satan to win his war against God Jesus, and they will do anything Satan commands them to do in order to win this war. Although, I believe in my heart that they know they cannot win this war. This is made evident in Matthew 8:28-29.

Bible Reference  Matthew 8:28-29   And when He Jesus was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.  29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, "What have we to do with Thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art Thou come hither to torment us before the time?"

In the previous scripture, Paul calls the demon "it" and "him" or "he." This can mean that not all demons are necessarily male. If you will remember, when the angels took themselves wives of whomever they chose and had children called Nephilim, the children could have been both male and female. I'll let you be the judge of this mystery.

Remember, if a demon can put the seed of doubt in your heart just enough to keep you from accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, he has accomplished his task in your life.

Can Demons And The Holy Spirit Occupy The Same Body At The Same Time

A demon and The Holy Spirit cannot occupy the same body at the same time. So if you have The Holy Spirit living in your heart, no demon can enter into your body. But they can oppress you, by giving you evil thoughts and dreams.

Angels Never Need Rest

Angels are spirit beings with immortal bodies and need no rest. In Revelation 4:8, John tells us that the Living Creatures, (one type of Angel), each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night.

Are The Nephilim The Demons Of This World

When one-third of the angels rebelled against God, there was no allowance in God's plan for their forgiveness; consequently, they have no hope of salvation. As part of their rebellion, the Nephilim, the half man-and-half angel offspring of the fallen angels and the daughters of man face this same fate. So, the question is "What happened to the spirits of the Nephilim after they died?" I believe that they are the demon spirits that have oppressed and possessed billions of humans since the Flood of Noah.

What Do Demons Look Like?

At the time of this writing, I have only seen Angels in visions, except for the time that I was dying with hepatitis when I was in my mid 20's. Even in this experience, the Angel I saw was very faint, so that I could not make out his features clearly. But the Angels I have seen in visions are incredibly beautiful, so when the fallen angels married the daughters of men, their children must have also been very beautiful.  But because of the sins of their angelic fathers, God destroyed the Nephilim in the Flood, and I believe God took away their beauty and they became what John describes in Revelation 9:1-11 "The fifth Angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke, locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth."

"They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months, and the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those days, men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle."

"On their heads, they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails and sting like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon."

In January of 2002, The Holy Spirit gave me a vision of this incredible event.

DEMONIC OPPRESSION AND DEMONIC POSSESSION

In the next paragraph, the Gospel of Mark tells of a man possessed with not only one demon, but with a whole legion of demons. A legion consists of about 6,000 foot soldiers, plus horsemen. I cannot imagine the physical, emotional, and spiritual torment that poor man must have suffered.

Mark 5:1-10 "Then they, speaking of Jesus and the disciples, came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.  And when He Jesus had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with unclean spirit demons, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones."

"When he the possessed man saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he, the demon, speaking through the man, cried out with a loud voice and said, 'What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.' Then Jesus said to the demon, "Come out of the man, unclean spirit!" Then Jesus asked the demon, 'What is your name?' The demon answered Jesus, saying, 'My name is Legion; for we are many.' After this, the demon begged Jesus earnestly that He would not send them out of the country, which is back to the Pit or Hell where the fallen angels are kept who took the daughters of men as wives during the time of Adam before the Flood."

From time-to-time, this story crosses my mind, and I think of how even though the demons that had never seen Jesus before in the flesh, they recognized Him as the Son of the Most High God. And I wonder why it is so difficult for the world to also recognize Him as their Lord and Savior today. One day, it will be too late.

God Will Help You Defeat The Attack Of Demons And Evil Spirits

Bible Reference  Matthew 12:28  Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27 And if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you."

18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." 

Bible Reference  Acts 10:37-38  You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached- 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how He went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with Him. Acts 26:18 To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
