FORGIVENESS

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Matthew 5:23-24  Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

Bible Reference  Matthew 6:14-15  "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Bible Reference  Matthew 18:21-25  Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. 23 "Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

Bible Reference  Mark 11:25  "And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in Heaven may forgive you your sins."

Bible Reference  Psalms 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Bible Reference  1 John 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

FORGIVING OTHERS

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Proverbs 19:11  A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Bible Reference  Proverbs 20:22  Do not say, "I'll pay you back for this wrong!" Wait for the LORD, and He will deliver you.

Bible Reference  Matthew 5:7  "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."  Matthew 5:39-46 "But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41 If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

43 "You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?"

Bible Reference  Matthew 6:14-15  "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Bible Reference  Colossians 3:13  Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as The Lord forgave you.

LOVING OTHERS

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Proverbs 10:12  Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs.

Bible Reference  Proverbs 17:17  A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Bible Reference  Luke 6:31-36   "Do to others as you would have them do to you. 32 "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.  34 And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons ofThe Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

Bible Reference  Luke 10:25-28  On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "What must I do to inherit eternal life? 26 "What is written in the Law?" He replied. "How do you read it?"

27 He answered: "Love The Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself." 28 You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

Bible Reference  Romans 13:8-10  Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.

Bible Reference  1 Corinthians 13  If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Bible Reference  1 John 5:1-2  Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands.

FORGIVE YOUR ENEMIES

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Luke 11:4  Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.

GOVERNMENT

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Acts 5:26-29  At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them.

27 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. 28 "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood." 29 Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men!

Bible Reference  Matthew 22:15-21  Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap Him in His words. 16 They sent their disciples to Him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17 Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"

18 But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19 Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought Him a denarius, 20 and He asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?  21 "Caesar's," they replied.

Bible Reference  John 18:33-37  Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked Him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"

34 "Is that your own idea," Jesus asked, "or did others talk to you about Me?"

35
"Am I a Jew?" Pilate replied. "It was your people and your chief priests who handed You over to me. What is it You have done?"

36 Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now My Kingdom is from another place."

37 "You are a king, then!" said Pilate.

Bible Reference  Romans 13:1-7  Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4 For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.

6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Bible Reference  Acts 4:18-20  Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the Name of Jesus. 19 But Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. 20 For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."

Bible Reference
I Timothy 2:1-4  I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone- 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the Word of God, they sent Peter and John to them. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the Name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

GRIEF

What does the Bible say

Bible Reference  Psalms 22:1-2  For the director of music. To [the tune of] "The Doe of the Morning." A psalm of David.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning? 2 O my God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, and am not silent.

GOSSIP

What Does The Bible Say

Bible Reference  Psalms 34:12-15  Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies. 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;

Bible Reference  Proverbs 12:18  Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Bible Reference  Psalms 101:5  Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence;

Bible Reference  Proverbs 25:23  As a north wind brings rain, so a sly tongue brings angry looks.

Bible Reference  Proverbs 26:20  Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.

Bible Reference  Matthew 12:33-37  Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.

Bible Reference  Matthew 15:18-20  "Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them. 17 "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man `unclean.' 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what make a man `unclean;' but eating with unwashed hands does not make him `unclean.'"

Bible Reference  James 3:2-10  We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. 3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise Our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.   10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.

Bible Reference  James 4:11-12  Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you-who are you to judge your neighbor?
