DEMONS MUST REST - BUT WHAT DOES REST MEAN?

Demons who are the spirits of the Nephilim differ from fallen angels in several ways: knowledge, beauty, spiritual power and strength, with the major differences being demons are half angel-and-half man and are earthbound and must rest; whereas, the fallen angels need no rest and have access to the earth and the first and second heavens. Matthew verifies demons need rest. Matthew 12:43  "When an evil spirit comes out or cast out of a man, it goes through dry places seeking rest and does not find it.  Then the demon says, 'I will return to the house the body of the individual I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house the individual, swept clean purified and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits, demons more wicked than itself, and they go into that individual and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first." NIV

The word "rest" in Matthew 12:43 does not mean physical rest but the occupation and possession of another body, while the word "unoccupied" in the previous paragraph means that the individual was once demon possessed but was cleansed and the demon or demons cast out, but afterwards, the individual refused to acknowledge God and accept Jesus Christ as his or her Personal Savior and receive the protection of The Holy Spirit. It can also mean that after receiving salvation from God, the individual turned his back on God and went back to his evil ways. Without the covering and protection of The Holy Spirit and the forgiveness and grace of God, the demon was able to return, and bring with it seven more demons even more wicked than itself and possess the individual again. The demons believe their only hope of escaping the Lake of Fire is for Satan to win his war against God Jesus, and they will do anything Satan commands them to do in order to win this war, though I believe in my heart that they know they cannot win the war as the Bible makes clear in Matthew 8:28-29.

     Matthew 8:28-29 "And when He
Jesus was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. 29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, 'What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?' " KJV

In the previous scripture, Paul calls the demon "it, him, and he." This can mean that not all demons are necessarily male. If you will remember, when the angels took themselves wives of whomever they chose and had children called Nephilim, the children could have been both male and female. I'll let you be the judge of this mystery. Also, if you will notice in the above Bible reference, the devils or demonic spirits also defined the time when they asked Jesus, "Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?" This can only mean that they know and understand the Bible, and know the approximate time they have left.

Remember, if a demon can put the seed of doubt in your heart just enough to keep you from accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior or turn you from your faith in God, he has accomplished his task in your life.

CAN DEMONS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT OCCUPY THE SAME BODY AT THE SAME TIME

A demon and The Holy Spirit cannot occupy the same body at the same time. So if you have The Holy Spirit living in your heart, no demon can enter into your body. But they can oppress you, by giving you evil thoughts and dreams.

ANGELS NEVER NEED REST

Angels are spirit beings with immortal bodies and need NO physical rest. In Revelation 4:8  John tells us that the  Living Creatures, Angels, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night.  NHJV

ARE THE NEPHILIM THE DEMONS OF THIS WORLD

When one-third of the angels rebelled against God, there was no allowance in God's plan for their forgiveness; consequently, they have no hope of salvation. As part of their rebellion, the Nephilim (the first generation), the half man-and-half angel offspring of the fallen angels and the daughters of man who are the seed (offspring) of the Nephilim, after the Nephilim to the third generation face this same fate. So, the question is "What happened to the spirits of the Nephilim after they died?" I believe that the Nephilim and the seed or offspring of the Nephilim to the third generation are the demon spirits that have oppressed and possessed billions of humans since the Flood of Noah.

EXCERPT TAKEN FROM "THE BOOK OF ENOCH"  [Chapter 15]

God speaks to Enoch reprimanding the fallen angels, the Nephilim, and the seed of the Nephilim unto the third generation. The Nephilim and the seed of the Nephilim are evil spirits and called evil spirits and demons by Enoch.

     "But, you
(the fallen angels) were formerly spiritual, living the eternal life, and immortal for all generations of the world. And therefore, I have not appointed wives for you; for as for the spiritual ones (Angels) of the heaven, in Heaven is their (the angels') dwelling (place).

     'And now, the giants
(the Nephilim and the seed of the Nephilim unto the third generation), who are produced from the spirits (the fallen angels) and (from) flesh (the daughters of man) shall be called Evil Spirits (and Demons). "

     (a)  After the Nephilim killed each other by the sword, their spirits remained earthbound, and became the evil spirits and demons who oppress and possess man, from generation to generation and can only find refuge when they indwell the body of a human through demonic possession. Whereas, most of the seed of the Nephilim until the third generation were upon their death cast into the Abyss where they will remain until the middle of the seven-year Tribulation, when Satan will be given the key to the Abyss and release them to torment man for five months.

Although fallen angels can appear in a visible form, the evil spirits of the Nephilim and the seed of the Nephilim to the fourth generation cannot appear in the form of a human, but they can manifest in the natural as apparitions, or demonic images.

To the Christian, the works of both the fallen angels and the evil spirits are done to cause fear through doubt against our faith. To the nonbeliever, the works of the fallen angels and the evil spirits are done to prevent people from coming to faith in The Lord.

WHAT DO DEMONS LOOK LIKE?

At the time of this writing, I have only seen Angels in visions, except for the time that I was dying with hepatitis when I was in my mid-20's. Even in this experience, the Angel I saw was very faint, so that I could not make out his features clearly. But the Angels I have seen in visions are incredibly beautiful. So when the fallen angels married the daughters of men, their children must have also been very beautiful. But because of the sins of their angelic fathers, God destroyed the Nephilim in the flood, and I believe God took away their beauty and they became what John describes in Revelation 9:1-11 "The fifth Angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke, locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth."

"They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months, and the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those days, men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle."

"On their heads, they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces.  Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails and sting like scorpions; and in their tails, they had power to torment people for five months. They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon."  NIV

In January of 2002, The Holy Spirit gave me a vision of this incredible event.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEMON OPPRESSION AND DEMON POSSESSION

In the next paragraph, the Gospel of Mark tells of a man possessed with not only one demon, but with a whole legion of demons. A legion consists of about 6,000 foot soldiers, plus horsemen. I cannot imagine the physical, emotional, and spiritual torment that poor man must have suffered.

Mark 5:1-10 "Then they, speaking of Jesus and the disciples, came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He Jesus had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with unclean spirit demons, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones."

"When he, the possessed man, saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he, the demon, speaking through the man, cried out with a loud voice and said,  'What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?  I implore You by God that You do not torment me.'  Then Jesus said to the demon, "Come out of the man, unclean spirit!" Then Jesus asked the demon, 'What is your name?'  The demon answered Jesus, saying,  'My name is Legion; for we are many.' After this, the demon begged Jesus earnestly that He would not send them out of the country, which is back to the Pit or Hell where the fallen angels are kept who took the daughters of men as wives during the time of Adam before the Flood."

From time-to-time, this story crosses my mind, and I think of how even though the demons that had never seen Jesus before in the flesh recognized Him as the Son of the Most High God, and I wonder why it is so difficult for the world to also recognize Him as their Lord and Savior today. One day, it will be too late.

THE DIFFERENT LEVELS OF HELL.

SHEOL - HELL

Sheol, Hades, Hell, the Pit, Gehenna, Tartarus, the grave, and the Deep all mean Hell or the bottomless pit. Sheol is the Hebrew word for Hell in the Old Testament and Hades is the Greek word for Hell. Sheol or Hades, although a horrible place in every sense of the word, is not the permanent abode of those who are there or will go there. Sheol is only a temporary jail or holding cell for the wicked until the day Jesus sits on His throne at the Great White Throne Judgment and judges all who are there with His final judgment. After which, they will all be cast into Gehenna where the Lake of Fire is located in outer darkness for all eternity, with no hope of redemption, eternally separated from God.

PARADISE - HELL:

Before Jesus gave up His life on the cross, Hell had a very special compartment in it called Paradise, also called Abraham's Bosom. Paradise is the place where all the righteous are kept from the time of the death of Abel who was Adam's second son, the first man to die on the earth until Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior gave up His life on the Cross at Calvary. After Jesus' crucifixion, He went down to Hades/Hell to this special compartment called Paradise and gathered up all who were there and brought them out with Him. This is verified in Ephesians 3:8. But for these who are in Hell, plus those who will join them there who never accept Jesus as Lord, will not be resurrected until the end of the thousand-year Millennium when they will be brought out, judged and sent to Gehenna which is the Lake of Fire in outer darkness.

Ephesians 4:8-10  "Wherefore He saith, when He Jesus ascended up on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts unto men." 9 "Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?" 10 "He that descended is the same also who ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fulfill all things."  KJV

The Bible does not say at what point the redeemed Jesus brought up out of Paradise ascended into Heaven. It could have been immediately or when He himself ascended into Heaven. However, it does leave us with the assurance of these words spoken by Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:8 "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord for all who accept the Resurrected Jesus Christ as Lord after His crucifixion."

So that the wicked would not be blind as to the fate that awaits them, Jesus gives a brief description of Hell and Paradise in a story He tells in Luke 16:19-31 "There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day." 20 "But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate..." 21 "...desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores." 22 "So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the Angels to Abraham's Bosom. The rich man also died and was buried."  23 "And being in torment in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." 24 "Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.' "

25 To this Abraham replied, "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now, he is comforted and you are tormented."  26 "And besides all this, between we and you, there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us." 27 "Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,..." 28 "...for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment." 29 "Abraham said to him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' " 30 "And he said, 'No, Father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent."  31 "But he said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.' "  NKJV

The reason that the righteous were kept in Paradise until after Jesus was crucified was because even though God saw them as righteous and forgave their sins, they could not enter into Heaven, until Jesus was crucified and their sins were washed away through His Blood. Until that time, the Jews and the redeemed Gentiles could only sacrifice animals as a covering for their sins, but after Jesus was crucified as a blood sacrifice, their sins were finally washed away and they could enter into Heaven. John 1:28 speaking of Jesus,  "Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away sin."

PARADISE is mentioned three times in the Bible and is moved to Two Different Locations:

Paradise One was first located in Hell as explained in Luke 16:19-31 in the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man and in Luke 23:43 when Jesus is being crucified on the Cross between two thieves and one of the thieves asked Jesus to remember him when He came into His Father's Kingdom, to which Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth: Today, you will be with Me in Paradise." NIV

Paradise Two is located in the third heaven. After Jesus' death, Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven, Paradise was moved to the third heaven. Paul verifies this in 2 Corinthians 12:1-4  12:1 "It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of The Lord." 2 "I know a man in Christ who 14 years ago--whether in the body, I do not know, or whether out of the body, I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven." 3 "And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body, I do not know, God knows--" 4 "--how he was caught up into Paradise."  NKJV

THE SIDES OF THE PIT - HELL:

The sides of the Pit is yet another part of Hell and is where Satan will be kept during the thousand-year Millennium that will start at the end of the seven-year Tribulation when Jesus returns to earth. Isaiah 14:15  "Yet thou Satan shalt be brought down to Hell, to the sides of the Pit to await judgment."  KJV

TARTARUS - HELL:

Tartarus or Outer Darkness is a place in Gehenna, Hell where the Fallen Angels who took the daughters of man as wives and gave birth to the Nephilim, half angel-and-half human, are kept bound in chains.  These angels will never be released until the Great White Throne Judgment, when they will be taken out of the Pit, judged and then cast into the Lake of Fire in outer darkness for all eternity.

ABYSS - HELL:

In the middle of the seven-year Tribulation, Satan will be given the key that will unlock the door to the Abyss and he will release all of the demons under his control who are not already out in the world. The only ones who will not be released will be the fallen angels that are kept in a compartment called Tartarus. From this time, to the end of the three-and-half years of the Great Tribulation, all the demons and fallen angels that are not kept in chains will rain down on the earth death and destruction.

GEHENNA - HELL:

Gehenna is a Greek word for the Hebrew word Hell; translated means "The Lake Of Fire." At the end of this earth age, Gehenna will encompass all of the other compartments in Hell into one huge Lake of Fire in the outer darkness and will be the place where Satan, the Fallen Angels, demons, the Antichrist, the False Prophet and the Unrighteous and will spend eternity.
